BiznesAlbania participated in the 3rd Meeting of the EU–Albania Joint Consultative Committee (JCC), held with the participation of representatives from Albanian institutions, the European Union, business organisations, trade unions, and civil society. The meeting focused on Albania’s progress in the European integration process, particularly within Cluster 2 – Internal Market, including preparations for integration into the EU Single Market, consumer protection, the free movement of goods, services, capital, and workers, as well as the role of civil society in the reform process.
On behalf of the business community, Mr. Koli Sinjari, a member of the Albanian side of the JCC, delivered a speech highlighting the strategic importance of Albania’s integration into the EU Single Market and the need to accelerate reforms related to the four fundamental freedoms of the European Union: the free movement of goods, workers, services, and capital.
In his remarks, Mr. Sinjari welcomed the successful fulfilment of the “Fundamentals” Cluster, describing it as an important milestone in the accession process. He also stressed that progress in the chapters related to the Internal Market should be treated as a national priority. He further emphasized the importance of:
- Mutual recognition of professional qualifications for Albanian professionals within the European market;
- Accelerating alignment with the Services Directive and the Professional Qualifications Directive;
- Developing systems that facilitate the free movement and social protection of Albanian workers in EU Member States;
- Involving business organisations and civil society as structured partners throughout the reform and negotiation processes.
Mr. Sinjari underlined that the EU Single Market remains one of the cornerstones of European integration and, at the same time, an important test of Albania’s political commitment on its path towards European Union membership.
BiznesAlbania values this structured dialogue among institutions, the business community, and civil society as an essential instrument for ensuring an inclusive integration process focused on delivering tangible results for the Albanian economy and entrepreneurial community. The meeting concluded with the adoption of the Joint Declaration of the EU–Albania Joint Consultative Committee.
