Biznes Albania participated in the High-Level Tripartite Meeting titled “Improving Access to Social Protection for Domestic Seasonal Workers in the Tourism Sector in Albania,” held on March 25, 2026, in Tirana.

This event was organized by the International Labour Organization (ILO) as part of its programs aimed at strengthening social protection and formalizing the labor market in Albania and the region.

The meeting brought together representatives from government institutions, social partners, employers’ and workers’ organizations, as well as international experts to discuss challenges and opportunities for improving social protection coverage for seasonal workers, particularly in the tourism sector.

During the discussions, the following were presented:

• Key findings from the ILO report on structural barriers faced by seasonal workers
• Experiences from European Union countries such as Greece, Spain, Portugal, and Italy
• Various policy models to improve benefits and access to social insurance

Within the framework of tripartite dialogue, several important issues were addressed, including:

• Contribution rules and qualification periods
• Specific challenges in the tourism sector
• The need for more efficient administrative solutions
• Policy directions toward more inclusive social protection coverage
